Tanya Khera, Haridwar
Tanya is from Bhurarani village in the Udhamsinghnagar district of Uttarakhand. She graduated in Political science and completed her Masters in Social work from University of Delhi. She has an interest in engaging women, girls, leading them to sustenance in the long run. She has worked extensively on menstrual health and hygiene with women, young girls towards building local solutions and behavioural change practices contextually. She co-founded Samanta with Prashant Anand in Uttarakhand to work with forest dwelling, pastoral nomadic communities of the lower Shivaliks (Rajaji National park & Tiger reserve). She has successfully mentored a young Van Gujjar girl to go on and become the Samvaad fellow at the national level for the year 2021-22. The vision is to engage young girls and women from the community to realise their dreams.
She has worked with the National Rural Livelihood Mission with the self-help groups of women across three states. She is an art enthusiast with a keen interest in up-cycling for innovative uses of waste and environmental conservation. The Plustrust anchor program will enable the efforts especially the girls and women coming together to be part of the program – learn, share, and do. She is making a start with a few fellowships for young women.
Prashant Anand, Haridwar
Prashant is from the Dehradun district of Uttarakhand. He completed his engineering from IIIT Kolkata and joined corporate the corporate sector. He then quit his job to work in urban slums on education and local issues. He is a post graduate in social work from Delhi School of Social Work. He has worked with the Mising tribe in Assam as an AIF fellow. He has an interest in elementary education and youth development building locally sustainable contextual solutions. He co-founded Samanta with Tanya Khera and is working towards building an ecosystem for education across Forest schools (Van Vidhyalaya- Forest Schools) and Public schools. The vision is to enable education access to all for holistic development of communities.
He has worked on the issue of girl child education in Delhi and Gurgaon. He has also worked in Assam. He loves to practice Yoga and is an avid reader and sportsperson. The Plustrust anchor program will support the efforts especially – youth, children and parents – in the region. He looks forward the community benefitting from this approach.
