Samvaad

What is Samvaad?

Samvaad is envisaged as a platform to connect last-mile Changemakers with Donors who donate in individual capacities or as part of their family offices or foundations. It emerged as an action plan to make it easy for grassroots NGOs or Changemakers (with annual budgets of less that 20 lakhs) to connect with Donors to help improve access and availability of resources

Why Samvaad?

Samvaad is conceptualised as a bridge between Changemakers or organisations and potential Donors. It hopes to provide a forum for small NGOs to meet Donors and for Donors to find grassroots organizations working on themes they wish to support. Samvaad responds to this acute need and connects individual Donors to credible and committed Changemakers without any intermediary loss of resources.

How is Samvaad unique?

Unlike mainstream pitch fests, Samvaad is a platform to build a relationship, rather than to foster competition. It is designed to support a culture of trust where each participant will be acknowledged for their efforts in some measure. The intention is to connect and commit, rather than reject. The aim is to sow the seeds of building and strengthening relationships between individual Donors and last-mile Changemakers.

Some of these Changemakers do not have the wherewithal to reach mainstream pitch fests. This relationship-building process is facilitated by a Curator, who acts as a confidante for Donors and Changemakers. The Curator provides reassurance to the Donors about credibility of the people seeking financial help and guide the Changemakers in drafting their proposals and strengthening their ability to communicate with Donors. There is no Curator fee and hence no loss of donated resources towards their engagement.
