Pramila Chouhan, Khandwa

Pramila is from Khalwa block, Khandwa district in Madhya Pradesh, where she belongs to korku tribal community. In the initial years of her journey in life, she has faced many problems and difficulties because when she was young her family needs to constantly migrate place to place in search of work because of unemployment and she did not even got the chance to complete her class 2 because she has to take care of her younger brother while her parents are out for work. Her family has seen the worst of the time anyone could possible imagine for a family, from tackling starvation to migrate place to place in search of work. She also mentioned that there are many such experiences from her past that are impossible to describe in words.

She had struggled very hard to complete her schooling because many girls in her community did not even get a chance to enroll in the school.

Because of the very simple life style of her Korku community, other communities discriminate with them. Many people from her community has lost their land to Sahukars (money landers) and now because of lack of work they need to migrate to different cities where again they face physical, mental and financial exploitation.

To save the people of her community from starvation and to make them stay in their home, she is working today and bringing a huge change in her society through education and providing necessity skill sets to earn their livelihood with pride and self-respect.

She became a part of Plustrust organization in the year 2019, and so far she has identified 3 RWE fellows through a workshop conducted by her in February 2020.
