Pramod Kumar

Plustrust Anchor, Karnataka

Pramod Kumar, Mysuru

Pramod is passionate about mentoring youth to become conscious of social justice and has led several youth programs. He has worked with Samvada a Bangalore based NGO which shaped his perspectives. He then led a residential program on Social Entrepreneurship at Deshpande Foundation, Hubli, mentoring around 80 fellows for over two years. This experience helped him develop his problem solving and program execution capabilities.

He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and Master’s in Non-profit Management. He observes that though people have good perspectives, they struggle to implement their ideas, because they lack execution capabilities. “Their head and heart would be big but their hands would be too small!” he says with a smile.

He believes that interactive learning is essential to create a questioning mind and build execution skills among students and to create a humane society. For Pramod, change first begins with the personal. When his sister wanted to work and his parents wanted her to get married, he encouraged her to pursue her career. He hopes she will grow professionally to become head of Research and inspire other girls from similar backgrounds.

He became an Anchor in Plustrust Anchor Program in 2019 and successfully conducted his workshop in March 2020. He identified 3 RWE fellows Bhramarambika, Mamtha and Vasanthkumari from different districts of Karnataka like Tumkur, Kolar and Chamarajanagar. Among two of them became Plustrust Fellows.

Bhramarambika and Vasantha both are still working in the field of their fellowship and has been able to achieve some sustainablity.

He works for a Social Enterprise called ‘40K Plus Education’. Their aim is to provide quality education for children living in restricted environment where there is no access to internet, electricity, quality teachers. They have created an English language learning platform that works offline where each student gets an individual login Id and can learn on his/her own pace. His role is to identify minimum resource environment schools/community, and engage them with stakeholders and also build capacity of teachers to use their English language learning platform, do classroom visits, mentor teachers and ensure children learning progress. Pramod believes that creating sensitized and empowered youth leaders through new learning experiences plays a vital role in achieving the mission of Social Justice. He missed such guidance in his childhood and youth and he has always looked for opportunities where he can deepen his understanding of social justice perspectives and spread this awareness to as many individuals as he can.
